Personal
Story:
I had known about this figure but I didn't plan on buying it until
an Ebay seller was selling it for a fair price. Tinkerbell was always
one of my favorite Disney character designs. |
| |
Introduction:
This figure is part of Medicom's Vinyl Collection Dolls series
based on various Disney characters. The figure is based on the character
Tinkerbell from the Disney film, Peter Pan. It features Tinkerbell
in her very famous pose. Limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide. |

Sculpt:
One word: WOW! The sculpt on this figure is perfect. Yes, perfect.
There isn't a single thing wrong with this figure from what I can
tell. This is the most accurate representation of Tinkerbell I have
ever seen. Her face, body and pose looks EXACTLY like the illustration
it's based on. Amazing. Medicom didn't take any chances with this
figure. They didn't stylize her or change her look which was a great
decision. But the face is definitely the most impressive part of
this figure. She's got the same attitude we can remember from the
movie. The wings are also very nice. It's made from a soft translucent
plastic which is very accurate. It feels like a thick wax paper.
Great details.
Every
part of her body has been fully realized in the 3rd dimension. In
fact, the figure is so beautifully sculpted, it can be used as a
maquette of sorts. You can take this and actually learn to animate
Tinkerbell. That's how accurate it is. It's so well done that it
looks like she flew out of the movie itself! Wow again.
The
base is pretty standard. There's one spot where you can put her
right foot and even though it fits snugly, you can't really push
her foot all the way into it. The reason is her left foot is pointed
down so it's in the way. Not a big deal. Sadly, her arms were not
made with the rest of the body as one piece. You can see the seams
where they attached the arms. A minor annoyance. She also has ZERO
articulation so you won't be able to play with her at all. This
is a figure meant to be displayed by collectors so that's to be
expected. Incredible sculpt and it's nice and large.

Paint:
The paint is also very good. The color scheme is perfect. They
managed to to take the exact color palette of Tinkerbell which is
great. The skin tone is very nice. There are a few minor problems
with the paint job though. There is a small part where there's a
drop of paint that dried. Also, the back of her left foot wasn't
painted as fully as they should've so if you look at it closely,
you can almost see the skin there. It's VERY minor and you won't
see it unless you're examining it closely. I have high standards
and the paint job was almost perfect. Almost. But the colors look
great.

Overall:
A+
Perfect sculpt and an almost perfect paint job. If the paint job
was only a tad better than this would've been given my Flawless Award.
But Medicom really did an excellent job with this figure nonetheless.
This is definitely the ultimate version of Tinkerbell that even the
guys at Disney wasn't able to create. She's the most accurate figure
of Tinkerbell ever. If you're a fan, get it now! |

Where
can I find this?
Pretty rare. She was also one of the first figures in this series
so she's pretty old. She's sold out at most online import stores
so you'll have to resort to places like Ebay for it. Happy hunting.
