Personal Story:
Noir isn't exactly the first Pullip I saw. I happened to chance upon a Pullip Moon sitting in a glass cabinet at a collector's toy store, sadly I had no idea what the doll was named or what series she is from. Now at that time, I had a little interest in Blythes and I would have gotten a few myself, till I actually realised that Blythes look rather awkward when view from the side due to the fact that their heads seemed to be flattened. Then I saw Moon. She looks similar to a Blythe but with a nicer face/head.

Fast forward a month or so later, at a gatchapon store. Something got my attention.. a little beautiful doll in a black frilly dress. It took me a while before it got into my head that its probably from the same series as Moon. But anyways..

A DOLL IN A FUCKING FRILLY DRESS!

And as my close friends know, I have an obsession with the Elegant Gothic Lolita fashion thing, so I really had to have it. Thank God I didn't have enough cash with me at that time cos the store guy really charged a crap load of money for her, and she's not new in a box too. One thing though, thanks to the store guy, I finally found out what the series of dolls are named and who produces them. A little search on the internet later and I found a rather popular local online retailer that sells them. Good thing they had a store here too, so a quick rush to the store the next day and I bought her.

Introduction:
Pullips are a series of huge head dolls designed by Jun Planning. Not exactly sure about the origins of the Pullip dolls. Anyways, Pullip Noir, A pullip in a Gothic Lolita dress. Pullips have a lever at the back of their heads to make their eyes look from left to right and two buttons that makes them blink. They are rather poseable and are about 30cm in height. Packaged in a nicely designed box with a transparent window in the front. Secured to the box with annoying wire ties though... I hate those little fucking things.

Sculpt:
The face is beautiful and has very attractive proportions. That is good as the slightly odd way the Blythes look pretty much turned me away from them. The hair is rather frizzy and you'd have brush it down one time or another to make it look neater. Both her eyes are different coloured, the left one is brown and the right, blue. The eyes could be made better.

Her hair is blonde and I really like the style they gave her. Short bangs with her hair divided into six bunches of little rolly thingies (Sorry, I have no bloody idea what they call those.)

The body is normally proportioned and is reasonably poseable, but sadly isn't immune to the laws of physics so, due to her rather large head, can not stand on her own. Her joints and screws are rather obvious so it might be annoying for some people. I personally am ok with those. Beware though, the doll's joints can sometimes be a wee bit loose which kinda makes her limbs look fractured if it flops down after being posed. The body kinda feels fragile so beware.

Beware though. There is talk on the net that her head can snap off the body easily.

Paint:
Not much paint really, except for a little make up on her face. Some airbrushed black eye shadow and a dark red crease line on her upper lid. The eye lashes on her lower eye lids are drawn on alternating black and white strokes and the look is finished off with dark red lipstick. Weirdly they didn't paint her eye lids which kinda makes her look all possessed like when her eyes are closed.

Accessories:
Gosh, where shall I start.. well. She comes with a beautiful black sleeveless dress with frills and the works. The front of the dress is laced up with a really long ribbon that ends at her waist in a really huge bow topped off with a little chrome finished plastic cross is connected to the right of the dress. The dress is three layered with the inside layer being simple white lace and a pair of stockings. A lace trimmed bonnet and a pair of standard goth platform boots completes the Gothic Lolita look.

She has a lip stud that is connected to a ear stud by a really really fine chain. A cute little bear comes with the doll. The poor little bugger has a chain round its neck, in which its end can be connected to a chain connected to the little cross on Noir's dress.

Would be nice if Noir comes with a doll stand like the newer Pullips.

Overall: A
Considering my obsessive love of dolls in gothloli dresses it could be a tad bit biased. But hey, she is one cute looking doll.

Where can I find this?
She can be easy to acquire on the net via many retailers and probably online auction sites. I got it from Magma Heritage. They owner ships overseas. I didn't exactly get it online, being a Singapore based operation, I kinda just walked into their store and picked her up. Great store and service, the place is highly recommended. That and Magma Heritage has an alternate version of Noir, called Bianca and as the name suggests, she comes with a white dress and a light blue bonnet.

Noir Pullip was released in November last year so she could be slightly harder to acquire than the newer Pullips.
