Personal
Story:
I heard about a movie version of the Wolverine Kubrick in Medicom's
site a long time ago so I decided to go look for it. The funny thing
was I found the DVD version first in
Ebay. I thought this one was the same but my sis pointed out that
he looked different so I took another look. Then it dawned on me
that this promo version was wearing a different outfit! I also checked
another site that had a review of it and it was confirmed. The promo
version is different than the DVD version. I snatched it up in Ebay
since not a lot of people were bidding on it. I guess people thought
they were the same. Hehe. I got it for a good price considering
the rarity.

Introduction:
This is a Kubrick figure based on Wolverine from the live-action
movie, X-Men. It depicts Wolverine in his outfit from the first movie.
This was only available as a promo to people who preordered tickets
to see X-Men 2 in Japan. |

Sculpt:
A pretty cool sculpt. The head is a great piece. Unlike Medicom's
regular releases, Wolverine's hair is connected with the head and
not a separate piece. It looks great and quite realistic. It's not
a solid block but has minor bits of sculpt to create texture. Not
bad. The body is pretty basic for all their Kubrick releases so
there's nothing new to talk about.
What's
new are the claws. I think they're okay. I'm puzzled why his claws
are bent like that. Wolverine has straight claws in the movie so
I'm curious as to why Medicom decided to give him these bent gardening
tools. Any Ideas? Anyways, they're not flimsy which is good. They're
quite rock solid so that was good. The shape really annoyed me though.

Paint:
Just as impressive as the head sculpt. He has black hair and
a nice pigment to his face. The details are far beyond the standard
Kubrick releases. The face looks a lot more realistic than the standard
Kubrick faces and the minor bits of scruffy hair he has is quite
nice. Very impressive.
The
outfit is clean and clear. The "X" emblem and the patterns
are incredible clean and look just like the outfit in the movie.
Good job. There is only a small scratch behind a leg but it's probably
a fluke. The other negative is that his sideburns aren't fully painted
in near the edge. It looks a little odd but it's a minor problem.
I'm sure Medicom didn't really figure out how to paint it fully.
At least it's clean. The claws are painted with a nice touch of
silver. I'm glad it's not a boring gray color. The
back has the X-Men 2 movie logo which is clean and clear.

Overall:
A
A great figure of Wolverine from the first movie. The details
on the face are quite nice. It looks just like Hugh Jackman which
is amazing. I'm disappointed with the shape of the claws but that's
a minor issue. A must-have for X-Men fans. |
